Within ‘Winter Starts in Yakutia!’ Festival the capital of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) will host Zero Arctic Biennale of Contemporary Art November 16 - December 4. Biennale has the character of synthesis of science, art, urban infrastructure, and educational institutions.
The main theme of the Biennale is permafrost, which exists in various aspects of our lives. The main exhibition project is aimed at understanding the natural, cultural and linguistic characteristics of the Arctic zone, and will be formed primarily on the local material.
Part of the structure of the Biennale will be the first Arctic art residence. Russian and Yakut artists will create projects based on scientific research related to permafrost and the image of the Arctic. Foreign experts are also invited to the event.
